Taipei Giant Mountain Ant is the largest ant in Taiwan. It is distributed in the middle and high altitude mountain areas and is difficult to keep.
From worker ants to queen ants, all of them are very large in size. Their large size often makes people think there are many queen ants in their nests, and their easy-to-observe size makes the process of keeping them more fun and makes them a very popular ant species.
There are two small spots on its abdomen, especially after it has been fed and enlarged. It is a small to medium-sized ant among the giant mountain ants. They produce eggs, larvae, and cocoons very fast and often fill up the entire nesting chamber. Due to the large number of larvae, the colony has a high food intake and is highly interactive, making it a very suitable ant species for beginners.
It is a glossy black color with a slightly beautiful metallic luster. Initially, the worker ants are relatively small in size, but the queen ant will produce a large number of eggs and incubate them at the same time to increase the number of worker ants quickly, so the colony develops rapidly at the initial stage.
Endemic to Taiwan, it has a reddish-brown head and thorax, with a beautiful tiger-like pattern on the abdomen.
With fast production speed, wide food habits, light color and medium size, it is easy to keep and observe. Even beginners who are new to pet ants can keep this species stably.
The most beautiful ant in Taiwan, its honey amber body color makes it very eye-catching no matter where it is. It is difficult to collect the new ants, so the production is rare and it is the favorite of many ant farmers.
