Introduction
The Diversity Household Ants, formerly known as the Simulated Large-headed Household Ants, is a special kind of ants. The sizes of its occupational ants vary greatly, while the occupational ants are not obviously dimorphic, and the specialized soldier ants and queen ants are very large in size and have an extremely large colony.

Worker ants are dark reddish-brown in color and queen ants are very large in size; they are much larger than worker ants and there are different classes of soldier ants with many kinds of differentiation among them.
Diversified oligodendritic house ants are multiple queen ants with mature colonies consisting of dozens of queen ants and tens to hundreds of thousands of worker ants. The Diversified Household Ant is an omnivorous and carnivorous ant that makes full use of the available resources in the environment. Its staple diet consists of food with high fat and protein content, and it occasionally eats macaque excreta. They can be found throughout Taiwan, nesting in hard rock crevices and soil surfaces. They are highly adaptable and can be found in the countryside and mountainous areas, preferring moist and humid environments, with no obvious foraging cycle, and are widely distributed, with very distinctive marching behavior, and their colony often moves.
Difficult to keep and feed on cockroaches. Use gypsum nests to keep them. Nests should be maintained in a high humidity environment and provided with water towers. The colony grows fast and consumes a lot of food, so they need to be fed "daily" to sustain the colony's expansion.

The most distinctive feature of the Diversified Household Ant is its large colony size, whether it is a worker ant or an egg-larvae, the white color on the left side of the picture is the nymphs. The colony is very large and the worker ants are very fierce in hunting and almost exclusively feed on living organisms. Observing the live hunting behavior of Diversified Oligarchic Ants is one of the greatest joys for the keepers.
Diversified family ants, queen ants, soldier ants, worker ants.
The queen ant is very different from the smallest worker ant. From the smallest worker ants to the largest soldier ants, there are a lot of body types, unlike the general ants which are *bimorphic* (worker ants and soldier ants have only one size each).
However, this ant species is very difficult to keep for beginners for the following reasons:
- Only live animals, preferably cockroaches.
- It has to be fed every day.
- Short life expectancy
- Dirty and smelly environment
- Afraid of cold, the only pet ant in Taiwan that needs to be heated in winter
Diversified oligarch ants have a unique feature that they can be combined together very easily. In our experience, we have combined a diversity from Taipei with a diversity from Kaohsiung, and the colonies have merged smoothly.
Meanwhile, the reproduction strategy of Diversified Household Ants is different from other ants in that there are 3 ways to reproduce:
- The male ants leave the nest and take a nuptial flight. After landing, they are picked up by other nests in the area for mating.
- After carrying the virgin, the male ants will leave the nest and go to the neighboring houses to mate.
- Several queen ants leave their home with some of their workers (at least 1000 ants) to build another nest.
