Worker ants are black in color and covered with long velvet hairs. They are of large size and are the largest ant species in Taiwan. The Taipei giant mountain ant is a single queen ant. The mature colony consists of one queen ant and thousands of worker ants. The Taipei giant mountain ant is an omnivorous and vegetarian ant. It is distributed in the middle and high altitude mountains and nests in the holes of living trees. It can only be found in areas with water sources and good forest conditions. Difficult to keep, feeds are the main food, sugar water and cockroaches can also be used as food, and plaster ant nests are used. The environment should be kept at a low temperature and provided with water towers. The colony grows slowly and the larvae are slow to develop, so it takes a lot of time and patience to keep them. |

Wedding Information
Taipei giant mountain ants have a short wedding flight period from mid-March to mid-April, after which it is very difficult to see them again.
The queen ants are phototropic and like to gather under the light. The landing period is usually from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
